Field Day Activities for Kids to Participate in While Playing Outside

Field Day Activities for Kids to Participate in While Playing Outside

Outdoor Field Day Activity Ideas for Kids

We want our kids to stay healthy and happy this summer and a part of that is finding ways for them to have fun outside.

Our kids really enjoy playing outside and it’s healthy for them both physically and spiritually. It’s great when we can come up with fun activities that will encourage them to play outside alone or with friends. They may even meet a whole new group of friends, or a new best friend, from simply enjoying themselves in the sun. It’s great when we can encourage our kids to create teams with their friends and other children in the neighborhood. Let’s have a look at some of our favorite outdoor activities for our kids.

Our Favorite High-Activity Games

With all those distractions like television, laptops, phones and tablets it’s getting harder and harder to motivate our kids to play outside. They need that fresh air, that vitamin D, and yup, even that exercise. Here are some of our favorite high-activity games for kids with a lot of energy, or ones that need to start moving!

Super active activities we love include:

  • Kickball
  • Dodgeball
  • Basketball
  • Racket ball
  • Tag
  • Bike riding
  • Double dutch
  • Different races like relay races, 3-legged, sack, egg & spoon, etc.

Our Favorite Outdoor Games for Lower-Energy Kids

The truth is, not all of our kids love to play sports, or want to run around with the kids from the neighborhood. And that’s fine. We just want them to be happy and get out some. What’s most important is that they get in a little socializing and a little sun and air.

Here are some even-energy Outdoor Games

  • Moderate pool activities
  • Flying a Kite
  • Swings in the playground
  • An outdoor game of twister
  • Checkers/chess outside
  • Hopscotch
  • Paddle boating
  • Miniature Golf
  • Hide and Seek
  • Volleyball
  • ping-pong/table tennis
  • Trampoline jumping
  • Frisbee

Final Thoughts

Though it may be a challenge for some of us to get our kids out there, it’s not a challenge any of us can’t handle. It’s so worth it for both you and your children to get out. Make a picnic in the park if you have to where your children can bring their favorite activities outdoors, that would be amazing. Don’t get discouraged, you’ll find something they love!

And for those active kids, they just want to run around, so be sure to give them some direction to get the most out of their summer! Play Pits is the perfect natural deodorant for the kids' field day experience!
